One area I was particularly curious about with the V50 was how well it handles navigation in a real home environment. Not just open space, but tighter layouts, low clearance, and everyday obstacles.
I ended up putting Alfina through a bit of a stress test. She ran herself under a portable kitchen cart, through a cluster of chair legs, and even under the bed with any lighting except her own. In all cases, she moved pretty confidently without getting stuck or needing intervention. I was so impressed that she never hit anything, especially with the speed that she was moving. Every time she would stop mere millimeters from an object.
What stood out even more was how she indentified obstacles. In the app, I could actually see objects being recognized. Tthings like shoes, my cat Remi (who was not impressed), and even a scale partially tucked under a laundry hamper. That one surprised me the most, since it wasn’t fully visible.
Overall, it feels like the navigation system is doing more than just avoiding collisions. It’s actually recognizing and adapting to what’s in front of it, which makes it much easier to just let it run.
