[V50 Ultra Complete] Muddy Work Boots vs. Entry Rug

For this post, I wanted to show a real-life situation that can happen pretty easily at home: coming inside with muddy work boots and tracking dirt onto the entry rug. As you can see in image #1, this was not just a little bit of dust. There was dried mud, loose dirt, and some small pebbles stuck in the rug, which gives the vacuum and main brush a real run for their money.
During the first pass, I left the boots on the rug, like they would normally be sitting near the door. Near the end of that first run, shown in image #2, the MOVA V50 had already picked up a good amount of the loose debris, but it also stopped around one larger lump of mud. As shown in image #3, the app detected it as an “uncleanable stain,” with a warning for things like vomit, feces, or similar messes. I thought that was pretty interesting because, without planning it, this also tested how the robot reacts to something it probably should not vacuum.
After that, I removed the larger lump of dirt and moved the boots out of the way. Image #4 shows the rug before starting the deeper rug clean option. The robot then made two additional passes over the area. Image #5 shows it near the end of the second pass, and image #6 shows it near the end of the third pass.
The final result is shown in image #7. There were still some dirt marks deep in the rug, but the loose dirt, small rocks, and pebbles were all picked up. I suspect a few more passes would have improved it even more, but considering the mess I dragged in, I was more than happy with the result.
I also checked the dust compartment afterward. There was a good amount of dirt and small pebbles inside, and the filter was visibly dirty. I’m not really surprised that some pebbles stayed in the robot instead of being emptied by the dock, since they’re heavier than normal dust and debris. The auto-empty system relies on suction from the dock’s fan, so I didn’t expect it to pull every small rock out perfectly. After taking the compartment outside, removing the pebbles and debris, and giving the filter a quick tap, it looked almost new again. It’s a good reminder that after heavier cleanups like this, it’s worth checking the compartment and filter once in a while.
